Midcroft is a growing village. It started as a mere crossroads between major trading routes but now has grown into it’s own small settlement pushing the social and economic boundaries between village and town.
Boasting around 500 people now, Midcroft still has a lot of work to do before it can be considered a town. First and foremost is defense. Midcroft has long been the target of goblin raids since it was just a spot traders had to pass through on the journey between towns. The crossroads were a prime source of goblin wealth and as the town has grown, so have the goblins. To repel these attacks Midcroft has started building a wall around the main grouping of houses and businesses, but that wall is far from complete and the goblins sensing that they can prevent the walls construction, or at least hold it off for longer, have increased their attacks. The goblins attack the construction workers who work on the wall using hit and run tactics, and the meager Midcroft Militia are poorly equipped, under trained, and too few in number to make a difference.
